Balneotherapy is also a form of hydrotherapy, first introduced by a German Dominican priest, Father Sebastian Kneipp.
The difference between both is that the water in balneotherapy is dynamic. Thus the therapeutic benefits of balneotherapy are more extensive than hydrotherapy.
The history of hydrotherapy was first documented in the 5th century B.C. by the Greek physician Hippocrates, widely considered the Father of Medicine.
