Just 15 minutes of daily vigorous physical activity can help one stay young says PloS ONE research (Washington). Findings of the study suggest that regular physical activity can prevent the deterioration of vital cells, ‘telomere shorteninga’ known indicator of cellular ageing. Telomeres are tiny 'caps' on the ends of chromosomes which protect against inflammation and other ageing processes. The researchers found that women who had engaged themselves in vigorous physical activity for at least 15 minutes a day, 42 minutes in a week's time had longer telomeres compared to their counterparts who underwent physical activity for shorter time periods.
“People know stress is bad for the heart and makes you look tired and haggard and makes us more vulnerable to infections. Physical activity is so good for you and stress is bad for you, but the new study shows the stress-buffering effects of physical activity in those who are chronically stressed," study author Eli Puterman, PhD, a health psychologist @ University of California, San Francisco.
HydroSPA comments: It goes without saying that exercise is very important. Unfortunately, only less than 11% of the population does exercise. Understandably for those living in metropolitan cities such as in Kuala Lumpur, time is very limited. Going to and coming back from offices would easily take 2-3 hours. How much more time can you spare for exercise after being so tired from work and the mounting other chores needs to be done!! One simple solution is to have your own Home HydroSPA. Within a 15 minutes HydroSPA session, one will be subjected to a passive exercise equivalent to 3.5km slow jog (burning about 300-500 calories), whole body detox and massage, improve blood circulation, deep cleansing, ease stress and pains as well as gradually rid of illness. All these benefits right from your very own home!
